HK: Singapore likely to delay 'travel bubble' deal

Singapore is likely to delay the implementation of the "travel bubble" arrangement with Hong Kong due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, special administrative region's Commerce Secretary Edward Yau stated on Friday.

"The Singapore minister told me that there may be a high chance that the bubble arrangement may not be able to resume under the agreed mechanism," Yau said during a press conference after a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart, adding that the two sides will review the situation in the following days.

The travel arrangement between the cities was meant to allow travelers to skip quarantine upon arrival, and was initially scheduled to start in November 2020.
