Hogan: No unity on trade between EU and US

New European Union Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan (pictured) said on Thursday that, speaking in the short-term, there will not be unity on trade between the EU and United States.

Earlier today, German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer admitted that US President Donald Trump threatened European countries with auto tariffs unless her country, France and the United Kingdom increased pressure on Iran over its violations of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Hogan arrived in Washington on Tuesday in order to try to convince US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to delay any new action that would further disrupt a relationship between the EU and the US.

Last month Lighthizer announced the US is opening an investigation into a tax which the French government plans to impose on tech companies.
