House Dems working on smaller COVID relief bill - report

Democrats in the United States House of Representatives are finalizing a new version of their coronavirus relief bill, after the previous proposal was rejected by Republican lawmakers, the AP reported on Thursday. An aide familiar with the discussions said the value of the package was around $2.4 trillion, compared to the previous bill, worth over $3 trillion.

According to the report, the bill is "likely to contain additional relief for the airline and restaurant sectors." It also allegedly includes "scaled back" items such as payments of $1,200 to "most Americans," funds for schools, coronavirus vaccines, unemployment benefits, and state and local governments.
