House passes bill to end US support to Saudis in Yemen

The United States House of Representatives passed a bill to end US military support to the Saudi-led coalition fighting Iran-backed rebels in Yemen.

"The only patriotic thing, if you care about our troops, if you care about American interests, if you care about the outrage that the Saudis are inflicting on Americans and on the world, then the only patriotic thing to do is to vote for this resolution," said Ro Khanna, the resolution's chief sponsor, ahead of the vote.

According to the resolution, the US forces are expected to withdraw from Yemen within 30 days unless they are fighting Al-Qaeda or similar groups. The resolution is expected in the Senate within weeks. The bill was passed after the US administration failed to state whether Saudi leadership is responsible for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
