HPE's Q1 revenue down 2% YoY to $6.8B

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Inc. said on Tuesday that its revenues in the first fiscal quarter of 2021 fell 2% to land at $6.8 billion, topping market expectations. Meanwhile, the company's net earnings stood at $223 million, dropping 33% annually, and its diluted earnings per share were at $0.17 in the first trimester, declining from $0.25 recorded in the same quarter last year. Total costs were virtually unchanged compared to the first trimester of 2020, landing at $6.6 billion in three months ending January.

"We delivered a strong Q1 performance. Our revenue exceeded our outlook and we significantly expanded our gross and operating margins to drive strong profitability across most of our businesses. These results give us confidence to raise our FY21 outlook," HPE CEO Antonio Neri said in a statement.

The company's shares gained more than 2.50% in after-hours trading following the announcement.
