Huawei never had access to sensitive equipment - SVP

Global Head of Cyber Security and Senior Vice President at Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. John Suffolk stated on Friday that the company was never granted access by any mobile network carrier to sensitive equipment used to provide assistance to law enforcement.

Suffolk underlined that the equipment used to intercept phone calls was never available to Huawei, explaining that the Chinese tech giant only provides "one side of the box which is blind to what's happening on the other side of the box." However, "appropriate action" would be taken on all Huawei personnel who are potentially involved in such offenses, the official said.

It was reported on Wednesday that, according to US officials, Huawei exploited systems aimed for use by law enforcement to access mobile networks in multiple countries for more than 10 years.
