Huawei's smartphone chip output to stop next month

Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Yu Chengdong, revealed that the production of the company's Kirin 9000 chipset will be stopped from September 15, due to United States tech sanctions.

According to Chinese media reports published on Saturday, he made the comments on Friday at a tech conference. "Our chip producers only accepted orders until May 15. This year may be the last generation of Huawei Kirin high-end chips," he reportedly said, adding that the tech company lacks chips and supply.

Yu also estimated that Huawei's phone sales will decline in 2020 compared to the previous year.
