Industrial production in China up 8.5% in March

China's industrial production was up 8.5% on a yearly basis in March, beating expectation of 5.9%, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. Year to date, industrial production grew 6.5%, lower than expected 8.3%.

The added value of the mining industry grew by 2.2 %, while manufacturing increased by 7.2%. The production and supply of electricity, thermal power, gas and water was up by 7.1% on a yearly basis.

Also, the value added of the state holding enterprises was up by 4.5% compared to the previous year, share-holding enterprises increased production by 7.8 percent while enterprises funded by foreign investors or investors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan saw their production rise by 1.4 percent.
