ING's total income up 0.1% YoY to €4.7B in Q2

ING Groep N.V. announced on Thursday that its total income stood at €4.67 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2020, rising by 0.1% compared to the same time span the year prior.

The gross result fell by 15.2% year-on-year to €1.88 billion, while operating expenses grew 14% to €2.79 billion in the second three-month period. The group's new result stood at €299 million, 79.2% lower compared to the second trimester of 2019, while earnings per share dropped from €0.37 to €0.08.

"The impact of Covid-19 was reflected in the higher risk provisioning and goodwill impairments we booked in the second quarter. We remain strongly capitalised with a CET1 ratio of 15%," CEO Steven van Rijswijk commented in the press release.
