Instagram head to testify before Senate panel

Instagram head Adam Mosseri is set to testify before a Senate panel in early December on the app's impact on young people, the New York Times reported citing Senator Richard Blumenthal.

Earlier this year, whistleblower and former Facebook employee Frances Haugen slammed the company, now known as Meta, for not taking appropriate measures to keep children away from its platforms, including Instagram, which could have detrimental effects on their mental health.

Meta's global head of safety, Antigone Davis later told Congress that the company disputed Instagram is harmful for children and teenagers. Blumenthal then wrote to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, accusing the company of providing "false or inaccurate testimony" about its "attempts to internally conceal its research."
