Intel wants to buy stake in HERE
Intel Corp. has filed a request to Germany's Federal Cartel Office for approval to purchase a stake in HERE, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. The antitrust regulator will make a decision within a month whether it will give consent for the acquisition, but it remains unknown how large is the stake that the California-based company wants to buy.
HERE is a digital mapping company whose owners since 2015 are Daimler AG, BMW AG and Audi AG. German automakers bought the firm from Nokia Corp. for €2.5 billion in an effort to create a platform for self-driving cars.
