Iran summons Polish envoy over US summit

Iran's foreign ministry summoned Poland's envoy to the country to file an official protest after the United States announced that it will hold a summit in Poland that will focus on Iran, according to various media reports on Sunday.

Iran summoned Polish Chargé d’Affaires Wojciech Unolt to submit a protest over the matter and demanded that Poland refrain from siding with the "hostile move" by the US. Iranian media also reported an unnamed Iranian official as stating that Iran will take undefined "counter-actions" against Poland if the summit goes ahead.

United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (pictured) previously confirmed that the US will host a summit in Poland that will have Iran as its main topic in mid-February on Friday. He is currently on a tour of the Middle East.
