Iran's ambassador: Iran completed its revenge

Iranian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi (pictured) said on Thursday Iran was done with its revenge for the Soleimani killing and therefore doesn’t plan to take any new military steps if the United States stays non-aggressive.

Answering to TASS, Takht-Ravanchi stated that Tehran's "action was proportionate to the assassination of Qassem Soleimani. Our action was completed. So if the Americans do not act militarily against Iran, as far as Iran is concerned we are not going to act in return." He added that, according to Article 51 of the UN Charter, Tehran was only fulfilling its right to self-defense. "But if they decide to act militarily Iran will have no other option than to respond."

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he does not want to respond to Tehran's retaliatory attacks on US bases in Iraq with more strikes and is "ready to embrace peace," stressing Iran's actions didn't cause any fatalities. However, he announced that the US will target Iran with "additional punishing economic sanctions" in response to Tehran's attacks on military bases in Iraq which host American troops.
