Irish spike in COVID-19 is concerning - chief medical officer

Ireland's chief medical officer Ronan Glynn said on Saturday that a current spike in coronavirus infections is "concerning," especially regarding the average number of cases per day which have more than doubled during the last few days.

He stated that "over the last five days we have seen an average of 44 cases a day. This trend is clearly concerning."

According to the last information, the overall number of infected people in the country stands at 26,065 while the death toll reached 1,763.
