Israel to vaccinate older teens against COVID-19

The Israeli government decided on Sunday to include teens aged between 16 and 18 years into the mass vaccination campaign in order to enable them to attend exams at school premises.

The Health Ministry revealed that around 25% of the country's nine million population has received at least one vaccine dose since December 19, when the inoculation using the Pfizer/BioNTech jab officially began.

Despite being in a strict lockdown since the end of last year, Israel leads the world with the most administered vaccines against the coronavirus. After a spike in new positive cases in mid-January, when more than 10,000 infected were confirmed in a single day, the daily figures are on a steady decline.
