Japan posts ¥383.2 billion trade surplus in June

Japan's total merchandise trade surplus went under analysts' projections in June, landing at ¥383.2 billion, according to a provisional report released by the country's Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.

The figure marked an improvement compared to the ¥189.4 billion deficit recorded in May this year, also rising on yearly basis in contrast with the deficit of ¥290.9 billion seen in June 2020.

The country's exports for the time period surprised expectations, rising 48.6% year-on-year, with imports also above the estimated number, adding 32.7% compared to the same month last year.
