Japan's exports down 2.4% in March YoY

Japan's exports fell 2.4% in March compared to the same period the year before, while imports grew by 1.1%, according to a report by the country's Ministry of Finance. The trade balance came in at ¥528.5 billion, 32.6% less than in March 2017.

Exports to the United States rose 4.4%, while imports fell by 0.2% in March, with the trade balance of ¥683 billion, down 9.8% year-on-year. Japan exported 9.4% less to China in March, while imports were up 10.9% and the trade balance was unchanged. Exported goods to the European Union recorded a rise of 7.3%, compared to a 0.6% drop in imports, for a trade balance of ¥44 billion, unchanged from the same month the previous year.
