Japan's financial system to remain robust - BoJ

The Bank of Japan asserted on Thursday that the country's financial system would likely remain "highly robust" even in the case the coronavirus pandemic resurges.

Commenting on the current economic challenges, the Japanese central bank said that the credit risk of overseas loans is generally contained. However, it noted there are signs of deterioration in some portfolios affected by the pandemic.

Low rates and structural factors will continue to exert downward pressure on financial institutions' profits, the bank concluded. According to analysts, Japan's recovery plan won't significantly change fiscal and monetary policies that are already in effect.
