Japan's industrial output down by 0.3% in April
Japan's industrial production index stood at 93.5 in April, down by 0.3% year-on-year and by 0.4% month-on-month, according to a report by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), released on Wednesday.
The inventory ratio and the index of inventories expanded by 9.7% and 5.4% year-on-year, respectively, and the shipments index deteriorated by 0.8%. On a monthly basis, the index of shipments fell by 0.4%, the inventory ratio by 0.5%, as the index of inventories went 0.3% up.
The reading was in line with investors' projections, despite showing that the country's production was still down.
