Japan, S. Korea, US top diplomats to meet at G7 talks - report

South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong, Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Toshimitsu Motegi (pictured right), and the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken (pictured left) will meet on the margins of a Group of Seven (G7) meeting in London, Yonhap reported on Tuesday, citing its diplomatic sources.

The meeting is meant to address the "concerns" regarding the effect that "prolonged spats" between Seoul and Tokyo could have on "America's efforts to revitalize its regional democratic alliance" in order to counter "China's growing assertiveness and North Korea's nuclear threats," the outlet explained.

While Blinken has already met with both of his counterparts, the trilateral talks will be the first direct engagement between Chung and Motegi.
