Japanese company tests anti-COVID drug - report

Japanese pharmaceutical company Shionogi & Co. has started human trials for its COVID-19 pill, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday citing the company.

Shionogi said the trials started earlier this month and noted the pill that attacks the coronavirus is to be taken once a day.

Earlier, Pfizer and Merck launched human trials for their pills developed to treat COVID-19 that are meant to be taken twice a day. Pfizer also stressed its drug could be on the market before the end of the year.
