Japanese consumer confidence unchanged in November

Japan's seasonally adjusted Consumer Confidence Index surprised estimates in November and remained unmoved when compared to the figure seen in October, a report released on Thursday by the country's Cabinet Office showed.

The figure was seen at 39.2, still below the neutral 50. The percentage of survey respondents who revealed they expect the prices to rise in the upcoming year increased by 1.7% in November, while 0.6 fewer percent of people claimed they see the prices dropping.

The overall livelihood index improved by 1.0 points to reach 38.1, while the income growth indicator marked a 0.3-point increase, landing at 39.4. The employment index went up by 1.9 points in the meantime to stand at 42.9, with the willingness to buy durable goods at 36.5, down by 1.2 points compared to the previous month's data.
