Japan's industrial output up 1.7% in March

Industrial production in Japan rose 1.7% in March compared to the previous month, the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry revealed in its final report published on Wednesday. On an annual level, the figure increased by 3.4% to post the first yearly increase in industrial output in 18 months.

Shipments increased by 0.4% on a monthly basis and by 3.4% compared to March 2020. Meanwhile, inventories rose 0.4% as well but recorded a yearly drop of 9.8%.

Finally, the inventory ratio rose by 0.2% on the month while posting an 11.4% decline in comparison with the same month a year earlier.
