JCPOA collapse would hit global economy - Russia

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov warned on Saturday that a rise in tensions between the United States and Iran might turn into a conflict with the potential to "ripple across the whole world, affecting the economy and markets." "Hopefully, the US understands that," he added.

"Neither Iran, nor the US, nor Europe nor the rest of the world can win from the collapse of the deal," Ryabkov stated, stressing that if the 2015 accord falls apart, it might lead to another major crisis in the Middle East, a notion Iran is aware of.

Turning to an earlier announcement from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, which had said that the country increased uranium enrichment to five percent, the deputy foreign minister stated that "it is clear some would like Tehran to have no nuclear program at all," but described it as mere wishful thinking that goes against the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
