JLR permanently shuts down its UK factories

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Plc. (JLR) said on Wednesday it plans to shut down its factories in the United Kingdom. Only a few weeks ago the company announced shutting down its production at two of its UK plants, but only on some days, because of the falling demand. However, it seems now that the shutdown is permanent.

The carmaker said that it suffers supply shortages from its factories in China mostly because of the coronavirus outbreak.

JLR’s chief executive officer Ralph Speth confirmed "the company was currently making no sales in China, one of its most important markets." Speth is, however, said to be stepping off from his current role as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jaguar Land Rover in September 2020.
