Johnson appoints Carney COP26 finance adviser

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday appointed outgoing Bank of England Governor Mark Carney to serve as his financial adviser for the upcoming COP26 climate conference. The 26th United Nations climate event is to take place in November in Glasgow under the presidency of the British government.

Carney, whose tenure as the UK's central bank's governor ends on January 31 was previously appointed UN envoy for climate action, a pro bono position for which the Canadian economist will be paid $1 a year.
