Johnson: Balanced approach needed for int'l travel

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated on Monday that when it comes to international travel a "balanced approach" is needed.

Johnson noted that the focus of the government is on trying to stop COVID-19 variants from coming to the country from abroad, adding that people need to be vigilant and remember that the coronavirus is "still dangerous." However, he did admit that the UK travel industry needs to be moving again and that people want to "badly go on their summer holidays" abroad.

Johnson's government has been criticized previously regarding its changing rules on international travel, with some in the opposition attributing the surge in coronavirus cases in the country to it. Earlier today, it was reported that the UK plans to create a new list of high-risk COVID countries.
