Johnson: France should get a grip

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson commented on Wednesday on France's reaction to the deal between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States (AUKUS) by saying that France should "get a grip" and "give me a break."

"This is fundamentally a great step forward for global security. [...] It's not exclusive; it's not trying to shoulder anybody out. [...] It is there to intensify links and friendship between three countries in a way that I think will be beneficial for things that we believe in," he stated during his visit to Washington.

In response to the AUKUS deal, which includes the development of new nuclear submarines, France withdrew its ambassadors to the US and Australia.
