Johnson: NATO provides safety in numbers

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated on Wednesday as he arrived at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in London that the alliance “provides safety in numbers” for its members.

Johnson also mentioned that NATO’s pledge works, but that “we cannot be complacent.” Following United States President Donald Trump’s criticism of NATO members’ spending, he added that the UK was investing 2% of its GDP in defense and contributing armored brigades, fighter aircraft, warships and aircraft carriers to NATO, while also tackling threats in cyberspace.

Asked about the recent disagreement between France and Turkey regarding the alliance, the prime minister said: “There is far more that unites us than divides us.”
