Johnson sees 'good chance' of Brexit deal

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a video message on Monday that he believes there is a "good chance" Britain will reach an agreement with the European Union and ensure an orderly Brexit on October 31.

Following meetings with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Johnson stated that there is "just the right amount of time" for the two sides to reach a deal. However, he reiterated that the UK will leave the bloc at the end of next month even in case an agreement is not found.

Earlier, Juncker stated that the UK still has not offered any "legally operational solutions" to replace the Irish backstop but noted the EU is willing to hear proposals which "meet the objectives of the backstop." Meanwhile, Downing Street said the two leaders agreed to "intensify" Brexit talks in the coming weeks in an effort to avoid a no-deal scenario.
