Kirby: China doesn't have impartial position in Ukraine war
White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby stated on Tuesday that China doesn't have an impartial stance in the Ukraine conflict.
At a press conference at the White House, Kirby added that the real purpose of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia was to solidify Moscow's position and to help it at this very moment. Besides, he said that "if China wants to play a constructive role, they should urge Kiev to end the war."
Despite the above, Kirby emphasized that US President Joe Biden prefers to maintain an open line of communication with China. Kirby's remarks respond to earlier comments by the Chinese president that peace and dialogue can resolve the Ukraine conflict.
