Kremlin: Kiev's NATO bid means it is not ready for peace talks

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that Ukraine's efforts to join NATO suggest that it is "unprepared and unwilling" to negotiate peace with Russia. Kiev's NATO ambitions have been "one of the main irritants and potential problems for many, many years," he said.

Peskov also touched on the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), stating that there are currently no indications the agreement will be renegotiated. Russia unilaterally suspended the treaty earlier this year and the United States introduced its own "countermeasures" on Thursday, including halting the sharing of some information on nuclear arms with Russia.
