Kudlow: China's collectivism is on wrong side of history

White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow said on Thursday that "China is on the wrong side of history" and that the United States "will win this battle," alluding to political and economic tensions between the two countries.

Kudlow slammed China's model of government, saying the "stateism" and "government controlism" do not work as they do not "deliver goods" and they "don't deliver freedom." The head of the US National Economic Council said that this was "the long view" and touches on the Hong Kong protests, saying Beijing is exercising "political oppression." He stopped short of drawing a line between Reagan's work on dissolving the Soviet Union and the current US policy on China.

Kudlow added that the administration of US President Donald Trump is "draining the international global trading rules swamp." Relations between the US and China worsened over the past few months after the two countries failed to reach a trade deal and the US introduced additional tariffs on Chinese goods.
