Kudlow: 'Sizeable distance' left in China talks

United States National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said on Thursday that there is still "a sizeable distance" left to be covered in Washington's trade talks with Beijing. In an interview with Fox Business, Kudlow asserted that the earlier talks covered "a tremendous amount of ground," but he added that legal enforcement of rules and intellectual property and technology issues are still left to be negotiated.

Yesterday, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin stated that he is confident about the development of the trade talks with Beijing, adding that the meetings so far were productive and that Washington is "putting in an enormous amount of effort to hit this deadline and get a deal." Mnuchin also noted that legal enforcement of the trade rules is still an area that needs to be worked on.
