Kurz announces partial lockdown in Austria

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced on Saturday the country will enter a second partial lockdown due to the rising number of coronavirus infections.

Starting Tuesday, Austrians will be banned from leaving their homes between the hours of 8:00 pm and 6:00 am, with few exceptions. Restaurants will close for dine-in services for four weeks, while takeaway and delivery services will continue. All companies that can allow remote work, should do so, Kurz said at a press conference. Schools will remain open for the time being, he added.

Austria reported 5,349 new COVID-19 cases earlier in the day after reporting a new record high in daily infections on Friday.
