Lagarde: Central banks don't coordinate policies

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Monday that central banks do not coordinate monetary policy moves, nor do they disclose their expectations or what their decisions will be in joint meetings of officials.

Still, policymakers from different jurisdictions "compare notes" and "exchange views" and look at issues such as financial stability, potential spillovers and changes on the geopolitical stage, she told the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.

Commenting on fiscal policy topics, Lagarde asked European Union lawmakers and other related authorities to deliver a fiscal framework that would set common criteria for the EU's plans on competitiveness, investment and public finance.
