Le Maire: EU recovery fund too slow, complicated

French Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire described on Wednesday the European Union's recovery fund, aimed at aiding the economy affected by the coronavirus pandemic, as "too slow" and "too complicated" due to "technocratic reasons."

"I see there are blockages and that all this is too slow, that we need to accelerate and that if we want to emerge from the economic crisis in the best conditions, the European money must arrive as quickly as possible," Le Maire told The Financial Times.

Earlier this week, Le Maire said the French government would invest additional financial aid in all sectors in case it introduced new measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
