Le Maire: France to tax tech giants despite US threats

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire (pictured) said that Paris will implement its digital tax, despite failing to reach consensus on the issue with other European Union member countries, the media reported on Saturday.

According to the reports, the plan is to impose levies against tech companies that report annual sales of more than €750 million globally and at least €25 million in France. Le Maire said he will discuss the matter with his US counterpart later today.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump vowed to retaliate with "substantial reciprocal action."
