Le Maire: We will be below 4% inflation by 2023 end

French Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire told France Inter Radio on Thursday that France will be below 4% inflation by the end of 2023.

He pointed out that, unfortunately, lower inflation means higher interest rates and a slowdown in the economy. On the other hand, he explained that in 2024 and 2025, economic growth will resume, with lower inflation and stabilized interest rates.

Le Maire described the eurozone's economic situation as "totally unsatisfactory," as "we are losing productivity, and we are not innovating enough." He stressed how essential it is for Europe, "in particular Germany", to realize "the absolute imperative of investing massively in artificial intelligence, green industry, and in education and science. There is a risk of the European economy stalling," he added.
