Leaning towards vaccine mandates for NHS staff - Javid

United Kingdom Health Secretary Sajid Javid (pictured) said on Monday he is "leaning towards" making coronavirus vaccination mandatory for National Health Service (NHS) staff.

The UK government is "considering" it, he told Sky News in an interview but added that there is no "final decision" made and that no timeline has been set for the potential move. Javid went on to point out that the booster vaccination "picked up substantially in the last few days," specifying that 800,000 booster doses have been administered in Britain over the past 72 hours.

Speaking about the £6 billion investment into the NHS that UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak is expected to announce in the budget speech on Wednesday, Javid noted that a "huge amount of money" will be allocated for "more buildings, more equipment, more investment in IT" in the NHS.
