Lockdowns are possible if cases rise - Germany's Spahn

Germany hasn't ruled out reimposing lockdowns as an option if the number of coronavirus infections in the country continues to rise, German Health Minister Jens Spahn (pictured) said on Thursday.

Spahn also noted that Germany could reevaluate the policy on allowing certain events and celebrations, as some citizens failed to grasp the full severity of the pandemic, but stressed that he doesn't think that the shops will be closed again.

Germany has recorded the biggest daily jump in COVID-19 cases since the beginning of May, as 1,045 people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
