Lyft announces new security features

Ride-hailing tech company Lyft Inc. announced on Tuesday that it added new security features in its quest to increase safety for both drivers and customers. According to its official blog statement, the company is introducing the enhanced in-app license plate visibility, sexual harassment prevention education for its drivers, ride emergency assistance and mandatory feedback.

"Lyft is relentlessly focused on finding new ways to further strengthen safety measures on our platform," said the company's Head of Trust and Safety Mary Winfield. She added that the new features will make it "easier to identify your Lyft ride, get help in an unsafe situation, and ensure everyone in our community is held to the same standards."

Back in April, the company implemented continuous background checks for drivers and upgraded its identity verification process.

Lyft shares traded 0.84% higher during the intraday trading session on Wall Street at 12:31 pm ET.
