Maas: Restrictions should be eased for vaccinated people

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas told Bild am Sonntag that he thinks coronavirus restrictions should be lifted earlier for people who receive a vaccine.

Maas noted that those who have been inoculated should be allowed to visit restaurants and cinemas. "It has not yet been conclusively clarified to what extent vaccinated people can infect others. What is clear, however, is that a vaccinated person no longer takes a ventilator away from anyone. This removes at least one central reason for restricting fundamental rights," he explained.

Earlier, reports emerged that German Chancellor Angela Merkel called for COVID-19 restrictions to be tightened. Meanwhile, several other German ministers have insisted that vaccinated people should not have a special status.
