Maersk: China's new Covid wave has large supply impact

The Danish shipping corporation Maersk declared on Thursday that the latest Covid-19 wave in China has had a "large impact on supply chains."

"With China continuing its dynamic zero Covid policy, Shanghai, the world's largest port and China's financial hub has been in lockdown for the past seven weeks, with 26 million residents sequestered in their homes," reads the report of the company, adding, however, that "Shanghai ports, Waigaoqiao and Yangshan, have remained operational with vessel operations, yard handling, and gate-in-and-out."

According to Maersk, the situation has been strongly influenced by the context, and customers have to wait longer times, with 3-5 days delay, because not only the virus has affected the health of the truck drivers, but also the health application must record the drivers' routes, and they may experience detention after delivery.
