May: Blocking Brexit more likely than no deal

British Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to say in a speech later on Monday that the parliament is more likely to block Brexit altogether than allow the United Kingdom to leave the European Union without a deal. Ahead of a crucial vote on her Brexit deal on Tuesday, May is going to warn against such a move. "People's faith in the democratic process and their politicians would suffer catastrophic harm," she will argue.

May is facing another possible no-confidence vote if her Brexit agreement is rejected. "As we have seen over the last few weeks, there are some in Westminster who would wish to delay or even stop Brexit and who will use every device available to them to do so," the prime minister stated, calling on major parties to honor the result of the 2016 referendum, in which the British people voted in favor of leaving the union.
