May: I don't want to see Article 50 extended

United Kingdom's Prime Minister Theresa May stated on Tuesday that she doesn't want to see Article 50 extended during her address in the parliament. The British leader stressed that "an extension beyond June would mean taking part in the European elections" and that the UK doesn't want that.

May also clarified that even if the extension is granted, it would be "short" one and "one-off," adding that "an extension cannot take a no-deal Brexit off the table." The prime minister highlighted that the only two ways to avoid a no-deal agreement are to either revoke Article 50, which she will not do, or to make a deal.

The UK leader also said that her government wants to lead the country out of the European Union "in a way that commands the support of the house" but that it also means that "the house should respect the proper functions."
