May to find way to pass Brexit deal in parliament - Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Thursday that United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May has to find a way to get her Brexit deal through the House of Commons, despite the EU's willingness to help London. Speaking at the summit of the European leaders in Brussels, Macron pointed out that the EU27 can assist in clarifying the deal, but that it cannot renegotiate the entire agreement with the UK.

"We can have a political discussion tonight, but the legal framework and the agreement that were negotiated are not supposed to change," the president said. "It’s important to avoid any ambiguity: we cannot reopen a legal agreement, we can’t renegotiate what was negotiated for several months... It’s up to Theresa May to tell us what political solution she expects to pursue to find a majority for this deal," he noted.

Meanwhile, May earlier stated that, based on her talks with European leaders, the EU wants to get the Brexit deal "over the line" and have it approved by the UK House of Commons, preferably before January 21.
