May to visit Dublin tomorrow for talks with Varadkar

United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May will travel to Dublin tomorrow for talks with her Irish counterpart Leo Varadkar, the Downing Street said on Tuesday. Additionally, May will fly to Brussels after the meeting with Varadkar ahead of the meeting of the European Council scheduled for Thursday. The prime minister is also set to have a phone conversation with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz while in Brussels.

Earlier today, May embarked on a tour of the European capitals attempting to preserve her Brexit deal. May visited The Hague for talks with Dutch PM Mark Rutte before continuing to Berlin to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Later today, May is expected to meet with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

The parliamentary vote on May's Brexit deal scheduled for yesterday was postponed. Following the decision, Varadkar reaffirmed that UK's departure from the EU is not possible without a legal backstop on the Irish island. He also said that preparations should intensify for a no deal Brexit scenario.
