McCabe investigation dropped by DoJ

The criminal investigation against former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Deputy Director Andrew McCabe (pictured) was dropped by the Department of Justice (DoJ), his legal representatives announced on Friday.

Allegedly, McCabe illegally leaked information to United States media outlets about the Clinton Foundation investigation back in 2016. Then-US Attorney General Jeff Sessions dismissed McCabe in March 2018 over the "unauthorized disclosure to the news media," while the DoJ sent a criminal referral on McCabe over "lack of candor." He was never officially indicted, however.

McCabe's wife Jill McCabe's Virginia Senate campaign received large amounts of funds from a PAC led by Terry McAuliffe, an associate of the Clintons, which was, along with his involvement in the previous controversy the cause of frequent attacks by the US President Donald Trump. Andrew McCabe filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the DoJ in August last year.
