McConnell: Stimulus deal hopefully today

United States Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell expressed on Thursday his hopes the agreement on the stimulus bill, aimed at alleviating the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, would be reached later in the day.

The senator from Kentucky still warned against "last-minute hang-ups" in the talks, although he previously noted both sides made "major headway" in their negotiations over the stimulus.

McConnell's comments come shortly after House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said the deal on the matter could be reached within a few hours.
